FC Screw-up .. thanks.

Was I wrong in my understanding that only a one-night deposit would be taken for the hotel?

After a very long conversation with the Fairmont, they claim that FC instructed them to charge the entire (room+tax) $900.36 to my credit card in advance of my stay. What if I choose to leave early? or Arrive early?

Is FC's policy now that full payment will be required in advance?

If this has changed from what was initially posted when reservations were made, they are absolutely going to have an issue with VISA.

Take the rabbit out back and shoot him :P

Coming down to the last few days .. With MFF next week and with my moving when I return from it, this weekend's my last.

It only took about a decade!

This morning, I made my last payment on my student loan!

Yes, and it only took 10 years .. granted I didn't borrow a whole lot because I worked through school.

.... oh, and yes, this also makes me old :P

The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver

The Olympic torch relay: Northern Canada

I'm headed to MFF next week, and then come back to complete my move down to the US later this month.

I've moved to and away from this city a number of times now; each time it was the right decision. But I will always consider myself as being 'from' Vancouver.

2009 has definitely been a year fraught with some extremely tough decisions, incredible highs and debilitating lows; It'll be nice to usher in 2010.

HAHAHAHA Perro's old.

First news, the house sold .. and quite well.

The new owners want in very soon, so I will be headed to Washington in early December.

My Canadian cell phone is basically hibernating until I can kill off the contract. Moving forward (yes, even while I'm still in Canada) my US phone (312-number) will be my primary call and text device.

The speed of all this was quite unexpected, but I can attest that the real estate market is on fire up here. And when opportunity knocks ... do or die.

Had an excellent weekend here in Toronto .. made it (finally) to Canada's Wonderland Halloween Haunt (http://haunt.canadaswonderland.com/) .. very awesome! And low-lines for the coasters!

I'm off to Moncton, New Brunswick (almost as far from Vancouver as I could get in Canada) tonite until Thursday morning and then its home.

Really, really looking forward to Halloween! A few of us are going to roam around downtown in Vancouver on Saturday and then off to a house-party in the evening!

On immigration... )

Howloween 2009

Halloween
This is just a reminder that Howloween is on Saturday, November 7th at the Compass Point Inn in Surrey, BC (Canada).

There will also be an optional fursuit and furry bowling on Sunday.

Howloween had a great turn out last year and was a ton of fun. I can’t wait to go and party down with everyone again this year :D *wags*

The website is as follows: http://www.howloween.ca/

More details will be posted on the website soon.

Hope to see a lot of people there!! :)

Despite traveling all over, I've still been keeping up with the commissions. Two of the most recent are here; I'm trying to grab some pics from a couple other recent works as well.

Qmick action shot: Caught with his ears up!

A few more things in the works right now and should have some progress pics shortly.

I had heard a lot of mixed reviews beforehand, but after seeing it - loved it.

I think Spike Jonze did a brilliant job capturing the often chaotic world of childhood.

It was obvious though that Warner Bros did some last-minute hacking of the story to make it more kid friendly; the business wanted a broader rating to capture a larger target demo

Very worth the adventure.

Amazing week at work!

Heading home from LA tomorrow morning -- been an extremely productive week!

Canadian Thanksgiving is on Monday ...

Since I hate holidays and have no family, I've opted to head to Seattle on Sat-Tues to hang out randomly -- Slush will be flying in for some great North-West adventures.

Two things I've always wanted to do...

  • Oct. 6th, 2009 at 9:24 AM
German dogs
#1 - Do Halloween night in San Francisco (like downtown) .. Not sure if its actually as good as the urban lore makes it out to be .. but I wanna try it some day.

#2 - Christmas time in New York City. Seriously, would you believe I've been to over a dozen countries, almost every US State, but I've somehow never been to NYC? And yes, I hate Christmas, but the spectacle is very alluring.

Now, off to LA for the week - back Friday afternoon.

PS. Canadian Thanksgiving is on Monday.

Off to LA on Tuesday

I'm actually going to be staying near Disneyland in Anaheim ... Tuesday until Friday morning.

Its awesome to be traveling again! Work's definitely back in the right swing .. finally! The last 6 months have been brutal.

HOLY SH*T. Very unexpected.

I just got a call from my immigration lawyer.

My Greencard (stage 1, labor certification) has been approved by the US Department of Labor. Despite all these job changes, my employer kept me in the queue.

We started this process back in June 2008.

This was the entry gate and was going to determine whether it would even be possible .. the rest of the formal process is just waiting now. Its a long wait (3+ years), but the remainder of the process is just a matter of time now.

I'm stunned.

Had an amazing few days here in Toronto this week -- works definitely on the right track and it feels so good to be doing what I do.

Lots more travel beginning again -- Victoria on Monday, Calgary on Friday and then the week of Oct 5th into Los Angeles/Anaheim for the week.

I'll be back in Vancouver tomorrow morning.

The speed limit is 100KPH, but seriously, don't speed in Ontario. Awesome highway infrastructure, but don't speed. $$$.

Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend in Seattle -- I should be at the hotel after lunch or so (I like the nice, short drive! :)

Actually, this is also the first con where I'll also have a birthday during the fray .. Its technically Monday, but, close enough.

See you kids at the party :P
